The Acht LP is the debut album from Berlin based duo Vittoria Fleet. In 2011 the duo of Allan Shotter and Giada Zerbo self-released their debut EP Kissing Cousins. The EP quickly caught the attention of the blogisphere as well as the ears of n5MD head honcho Mike Cadoo. Two years in the making Acht LP shows the duo refining their tenet of aural and emotional contrast . Dark elastic experimental beatwork pulsate around Giada’s slithery emotive vocal delivery. Max McFerren has long been a staple of Brooklyn and Chinatown’s lofts and club spaces at particularly late hours with his playful but muscular take on techno, but this is the first glimpse into the unadorned but texturally luxurious MCFERRDOG project. Jacked on twisted optimism and Power 105.7 bombastics, “Club Amniotics” toes extremes of fantastical, bubbly weird-as-I-wanna-be experiments and a hugely emotive, open-spaced club vernacular.

Whether goofing off into circus EDM and kaleidoscopic, elasticated techno or hitting ultra-sincere emotions and straight up euphoria, MCFERRDOG is totally uninhibited in this pre-subjective, pre-club ego-forming sphere. Fantasizing an alt Panorama Bar culture, particularly sportive bouncers like “Thesaurus Mode” ride a clearer techno tempo, processing jumped up club signifiers into a super melodic ASMR love story. Mutated neo-rave sensations rise off of the title track (one of the c38s more sensual moments) whereas the stop-start funk of “Rosewater” or slightly drunker “Vulgar Physics” is bouncy and straight up weird.

This dual mind might go some ways to explain McFerren’s interactions with the likes of DJ Richard and Young Male at the same time as playing warehouses with acid freaks like Gobby and Physical Therapy. MCFERRDOG’s strokes are broad; tapping into the threshold of a good idea and reopening recent youth with post-ironic realness and notions of unbridled imagination, fantasy and new age.

“The concept of “Cyclonic” is based on recordings of various storms and rain, with recordings of Hurricane Sandy being a massive part of the source material.

Submersion is well known for his dub techno productions and “Cyclonic” could easily be described as dub techno but the focus is much more on a very meditative and spiritual state of ambience, based around the swirling sounds of wind, rain and deep echoes and delays of organic synth stab sounds and chords.

The project came about after SLEEP ORCHESTRA was given some recommended listening by a friend. After listening to PJUSK for many months, he found out that they were performing at Storung Festival in Barcelona the next year. PJUSK and SLEEP ORCHESTRA met at the festival and after a good chat and listening to each others material, it was agreed by both parties that they wanted to work together on a collaboration album.

Chris has said that, “If it wasn’t for my friend recommending me to listen to PJUSK’s “Tele” album this project may never have happened!”
That friend was Juan Diego Burillo (1974 – 2012). The Album “Drowning In The Sky” is dedicated to his memory.

The music of “Drowning In The Sky” creates a soundtrack of ambient soundscapes and drones that move you slowly and steadily through an ever changing landscape of water, fog and the clouds in the sky. This is the type of music to listen to when you just want to float away to another world.
