Matt Walsh’s Clouded Vision Recordings presents their biggest EP to date with two peak time tracks from one of the figureheads of the French electronic scene. Backed with remixes from the label owner himself alongside Get Physical regular and head of Lithuania’s “Best Kept Secret”, Vidis.

Remote’s first release partnering Jennifer Cardini in 2005 as “Jenny Goes Dirty” warmly welcomed them to France’s label of the moment, “Kill The Dj”. The EP included a cover of the classic ‘Amoureux Solitaire’ and was picked up by the cream of the electro & techno crop including Tiga, James Holden, Tiefschwarz, Chloe & Ivan Smagghe. The duo have since recorded on an array of French imprints including Meant, Fondation, Tigersushi and Gesaffelstein’s “Zone”.

The A-side, Alcyone, is highlighted by an infectious synth hook blended with a powerful bass-line to create the most unique and stand-out record Clouded Vision Recordings have released. The second track, “Talk” is more of a jacking house affair, yet still full of John Carpenter infused melodies that build throughout it’s 9 minute existence.

With Matt’s most recent original material released on Kill The DJ, a remix from the label owner paved way for a perfect fit. He lowers the tempo and adds a rolling 303 acid line to craft a late night groove, perfect for the more discerning floors. Fresh from releases on “Get Physical” with production partner Mario Basanov, Vidis opts for a homage to French new wave by giving “Talk” an abundance of funk and sex appeal.

With over a dozen years in music under his belt and a lengthy discography that includes eight full-length albums and numerous EPs and remixes, Deepchild is a producer who needs no introduction. From Australia before it was a destination of note on the electronic circuit, his early music experimented with dub, broken beat, and other ideas. After moving to Berlin to be closer to the pulse, his sound has shifted towards house, but audible echoes of the earlier influences remain. Caduceus Records happily offers him our latest release, with two contrasting original efforts accompanied by remixes from MRSK and Lad. Deepchild leads off with the more floor-focused of his originals, “Pushing Matter”, a dirty, hardware-propelled house jam whose grit looks towards the machines that made it. Extreme effects manipulations of the title vocal hook through ring modulators, delay, LFO and filters provide much of the sound palette, accompanied by acid-flecked basslines and hard-jacking drums with a modicum of breakbeat feeling. MRSK forwards the vocals and leans harder on their drum machines for the remix with deeper, dystopian, dancefloor-wrecking results and a similar overall development. “Lazarus” finds Deepchild in more experimental areas as chugging triplets provide tension to the rhythmic base alongside spacey, repeated vocal and synth phrases. Lad turns in another epic refix by ironing out the rhythmic kinks of the original and taking a lightly progressive house-influenced coda after an extended, heads-down techno workout.

Up this month on Anabatic Records is a new two-track EP from Worthy called “Flashin”. After a busy summer of touring, Worthy has returned to put together this EP with two of his favorite new songs that he successfully damaged dance floors with all summer long.

Up first is the title track, “Flashin”, which works off an old rave stab that builds up and gets the stobes lights flashin’ on the dance floor. When it finally builds up to its peak, it drops into some of the lowest 808-bass tones that nearly shake your bass bin’s screws lose. This is one of those songs that can be played out at the perfect peak time or deep into the early morning darkness.

Up on the B-side is “Trinidad”, a bit more on the fun and uplifting side. Trinidad works off a steal-drum line and some ghetto beats that drops you into some pulsing funky bass. This one is a mash-up of dub, bass, and classic house, with some modern twists to it that add some proper freshness. This is a great daytime jam but is just as infectious when played nocturnally.
