Dopest deep house/boogie electronics from Russian producer OL on the R&S-affiliated Meda Fury label. After exhibiting some canny chops with his 7″ for Faces Records and a string of 12″ singles for Error Broadcast, the ‘Scape Border’ EP is arguably his highest profile release to date, and also his slickest. It’s still got all the adroit touches we praised in his earlier work, but the vibe is bluer, smokier, cooler. DJs need to check for the itchy, scratchy funk of ‘Lum Edit’, the percolating Chicagoisms of ‘Myxa’, and the scuffed deep house filter treatments of ‘Podumay’, whilst home-listening heads will also find treats in the aquatic trap bounce of ‘Meltdown’, and the gutted but glowing BoC styles of ‘X Pleasure’.

The objective for this venture was to create an ever evolving sonic ocean utilizing the enigmatic spheres of ambient structure and rhythm, wherein movements are methodically rendered from various forms of synthesis, subdued with mystical ghostly harmonics and artifacts from aged analog hardware. Rigorous experimentation has yielded resonating enchanting echoes meant to induce the notion that this quantum phenomena is, indeed, measurable and continuously changing as it is in the universe.
For the curious one, this recording consists of 2 near 60 minute infinite pieces of perceptual distortion that voyages into unfamiliar quiet zones. Those who were immersed with previous Variant projects, such as the work featured on ”The Setting Sun” and or cv313’s epic “Beyond The Clouds” will have a lot to love here. This will be an experience meant for anyone with a quest for absorption. “Aurora’s Dream” is the exploration into invisible dimensions of undulating synergy, one devoid of space and time. Mulen is releasing its second LP and next to the shifty beats and crafty sounds, its full of mystery too. No one heard of the name Silat Beksi before, though the artist is no stranger to the scene. Silat prefers to keep his identity incognito (for the time being) to let 8th reality infiltrate our present with no influences of past productions. The history of music knows more artists walking down this road and just a few who have really made it. Let’s hope for Silat this try around is a successful one. 8th reality is taking Mulen towards more experimental territory. Silat Beksi is pushing the artistic envelop without being abstract, the sound is full of charisma and definitely working the crowd. Deep house influences edging with breaks and hip-house, when some roots go the Chicago scene back in the 90th. It is a fully captivating album worth a listen.
