07 A Glance
08 Amar
09 A Fall

13 Asleep (Kelpe Remix)

Rumpistol’s 5th full album is called “Away” and references, among other things, the isolation, absence and loss that comes with the creative process, but also the privilege of being able to disappear into another world and be 100% present in the music.

After Rumpistol’s recent collaborations with vocalists Red Baron (The album “Floating” released on Project Mooncircle in 2012) and John LaMonica (the It’s Everywhere EP from 2013), he now returns with another step forward in the outgoing direction while acknowledging the finest moments of his earlier instrumental releases too. This is especially heard in the strong focus on detail and the choice of acoustic instruments as a fixed companion to the electronic machinery.
The album features American singer/songwriter John LaMonica, LA-residing Red Baron and Katerine Mills-Rymer of OOFJ.

The title “Away” was chosen because many of the tracks on the album obviously deals with absence and the many ways to get lost or to disappear into something else. Whether existentially or in the escapist sense – to be on the run from something or to be heading somewhere unknown – a driving force that Rumpistol has often mentioned in relation to his creative process.

“Everyone knows what it means to be absent, or the unpleasant and almost humiliating feeling it can be to be around absent minded people. Paradoxically, absence usually springs from a total presence. So when you’re 100% absorbed in one thing then you tend to forget everything else around you. This is the zone I enter when I work alone with my music ” Rumpistol explains.

Like most electronic musicians and composers Rumpistol has always worked alone, so the isolation is a basic condition requiring a certain personality, which some might perceive as introverted or even nerdy.
Rumpistol’s great devotion to analogue sounds shows a passion which some might find kooky too. A passion for deliberately squashed cassette tapes, reel-to-reels, crackling vinyl and vintage synthesizers from before the digital age, where sounds were designed from scratch – slowly with patience and good craftsmanship.
This analogue element mixed with Rumpistols bitter-sweet compositions and subtle use of children’s voices evokes a feeling of nostalgia, where washed-out memories of childhood comes alive. Like on the first single “Asleep” which features elements of an old Danish childrens song or “Adrift” where Rumpistol samples a recording of himself as a child.

The title track (a duet between Red Baron & Katherine Mills Rymer of OOFJ) as well as the track “A Fall” brings the subject of struggling relationships to the table, while the majestic closer “Atacama” feat. John LaMonica sees absence in a much larger universal perspective, taking inspiration from Guzmans documentary ”Nostalgia For The Light”.

With elements from juke, ambient, house, IDM & drum’n’bass, “Away” elegantly summarizes Rumpistol ability to produce highly elaborate and genre crossing electronic music, that still bears a human face, while integrating sonic details with microscopic precision, that can only be made possible by many hours – days – even months of strenuous work in the studio.

It’s an ability that has gained love from critics & DJs alike, from BBC’s legendary John Peel to French techno star Laurent Garnier and Om Unit, and has brought him to venues like Boiler Room UK and MUTEK Montreal.

Daniel Troberg – Bolivia EP

9007762

Label/Cat#: Palette Recordings – PALDG11
Source: WEB
Release date: 2014-02-25
Format: mp3
Quality: 320 kbps
Size: 58 mb
Genre: Electronic
Style: Tech House

Tracklist
1. Bolivia (Original Mix)7:54
2. M3ltfac3 (Original Mix)4:03
3. The Biggest Thing I Have Ever Seen (Original Mix)6:30
4. Bolivia (John Tejada Remix)6:55

Palette Recordings is proud to welcome Daniel Troberg. Troberg, born on the Aaland Islands in Finland 1977, started dabbling in computers 30 years ago and was automatically dragged into the electronic music culture that was happening in Europe around the end of the ’80s and beginning of the ’90s. Growing up on equal doses of Chicago house music, German prototype techno, Finnish minimalism, and an upbringing on desolate islands fueled his creative drive and mindset a bit off the beaten path. Dj, producer, radio show host, promoter and technical savvy, Daniel’s vision has today manifested in a leading role at Elektron Music Machines, creators of fine electronic musical instruments. The title track “Bolivia” was conceived after traveling around in the marvelous country and taking in its extremes, something that reflects in the boldness and longevity of the music and sounds. It has been floating around within the innards of internet, surfacing only briefly up until now as it’s getting a proper release on Palette. “m3ltfac3” was made one gloomy Scandinavian winter as an experiment to get the Elektron Monomachine synthesizer to talk in a more human way than ever before. Although the lyrics are buried deep in the track, it warns of machines influencing the daily life of humans. A known theme by now but nonetheless always in question. “TBTIHES” was originally formed for a short film by Swedish video maker Sarah Schmidt in 2008, but has now taken a form of its own, creating a visual representation of itself in the rhythms, textures and sounds of the music. The title of the track really says it all. Rounding out the EP, is a special John Tejada remix of the title track.

This month is something special: On the 11th of february 2011, exactly three years ago, we released our very first release called ’Sounds For The Geniculate Ganglion’. It was a raw but precious sketch of the future (still available at the bottom of our digital discography btw 😉 ) with a small and fairly totally unknown selection of Belgian digital dream producers. One of the leading figures gathered on that compilation was Gauthier ’Sk’p’ de Hemptinne with ’Altraplex’.

Today we witness the result of three years of work, precious time spent to carefully construct this brilliant album for us.
Lets listen, put on those audio helmets, close those peepers and immerse yourself…

He kicks off where he left it with a new version of the previously featured ‘Atraplex’ track afterwich we meet ‘Clocks Of Exiplosis’, a tender uptempo floating device boosting us higher and higher into the stratosphere.
As the voyage takes us beyond we pass ‘Coloss Prack’, a giant piece of texture dozing in the dark and exploding in our face while passing into the title piece ‘Orpiclem’.
An ocean of wellness sloshing against rough but perfect crafted rythmic textures, a highlight in the sound that we all love and know as Sk’p, one to repeat and play for your grandchildren.
After the title track it is time for a little rest wich we can find in the short but intens intermezzo ‘Helicoprion’. We then have a rolling emotion coming at us with high definition. Twisting and climbing around while being hypnotised, we know we have arrived in awe, we close our eyes and relax.
Untill we hear some ‘Klankabells’ announcing a memory of a storm and who make us want to move things omni-dimensional. It is way too early that we wake up and find peace in what has come to be the 4th version of ‘Audionaut Preject’, a happy goodbye track in a blue 8bit Megaman suit.

7. Never Enough (Bottin Extended Vocal)7:15

Founding fathers of the New Romantics and pioneers of the 80s sound Visage, are pleased to add a few remixes to their 3rd single from new album ‘Hearts And Knives’. ‘Never Enough’ is the album opening track has been given the remix treatment and a vinyl release. First up with the remixes are the Young Parisians who strip things down to the core electronic and synthy elements but keep Steve Stranges driving lyric. The result is Synthpop 2014 but with a dancefloor twist. Next we are pleased to include a remix from house legend Jon of The Pleased Wimmin. Best known for his peak time 90’s house remixes and releases, we can now add Visage to his illustrious list of collaborators (including Divine, Erasure, Cerone and even Chris Rea). Keeping things with a house flavour, next Icelandic based B.G. Baarregaard teams up with Sleazy McQueen/Space Coast for some deeper action. Italian based Bottin is next to remix with his laid back slo-mo Italo disco versions (both in dub and vocal flavors). To round off the package we include the Radio Edit of the original, ‘all guns blazing’ version, it merges thundering Moroder-esque basslines with layers of Robin Simon’s effected guitars. Real drums Moroder bass and big keyboard riffs. Some Visage History: In 1980 Visage released their breakthrough track “Fade To Grey”. It became a European hit and reached number 1 in eight countries in 1980. The band then enjoyed a series of hit singles “Mind Of A Toy”, “Night Train” and “The Anvil” coming from a pair genre defying albums, the eponymous “Visage” in 1980 and “The Anvil” in 1982. In 1981 In 1984 Visage made their 3rd album “Beatboy”. As the public face of the band Steve Strange shot to stardom throughout Europe he continued to be active in hosting club nights (The Camden Palace, Club For Heroes) and in the fashion world.

Ekoplekz – Unfidelity

Genre: Experimental, Electronic
Quality: MP3

Total Size: 127 mb

Having forged his name in grubby lo-fi sonics with a strong pulse of post punk running through it, through some proactive A&Ring by Mike Paradinas Ekoplekz has been coaxed out of his abstract bolt hole and delivers an album of wild electronics shot through with classic machine soul. The synths that appear on tracks such as “Trace Elements” or “Pressure Level” would never have made it on to earlier releases, but they gel perfectly with the predominant Ekoplekz sound, enriching the listening experience rather than knocking the project off course. It’s a fine continuation of both an artist, and the wider tradition of quality leftfield electronica, of which Planet Mu has been a major instigator.

Golden Retriever – Seer

1394098785_5776

Label: Thrill Jockey
Release date: 2014
Source: WEB
Format: MP3
Quality: 320 kbps
Size: 101 mb
Genre: Electronic
Style: Ambient, Electronic

Golden Retriever is the duo of Matt Carlson (modular synthesizer) and Jonathan Sielaff (bass clarinet), two musicians who blur the line between sounds created electronically and acoustically. The pair formed Golden Retriever in 2008 and began to develop a language informed by the practices of free improvisation as well as the tradition of American experimental electronic composers like Alvin Curran & David Behrman. Golden Retriever creates music that is creatively challenging and structurally complex while remaining inviting and emotionally dynamic rather than adopting a confrontational stance toward the listener.

Seer, their second release for Thrill Jockey, was recorded and assembled over the course of two years at the artists’ studio “Worksound” in Portland, OR. The relaxed timetable gave Carlson and Sielaff an opportunity to write based around new instruments and techniques and to spend considerable time meticulously editing the work. This extends the process employed on their Thrill Jockey debut Occupied with the Unspoken, composing and arranging using editing as a compositional tool.

The opening track “Petrichor” shows Carlson using an 11-limit just intonation system and can, if listened to at a significant volume, create otoacoustic emissions: the generation of new resonance within the inner-ear as a rectification of two perfectly toned and opposing frequencies. The use of this phenomenon as musical material was pioneered by Maryanne Amacher in her sound installations of the 70s and 80s. The song “Sharp Stones” finds Sielaff weaving complex melodic phrases over Carlson’s bed of synth-processed piano sounds, toying with the gestures of modal free jazz. Their ability to move between abstract sound exploration and traditionally engaging musical structures is demonstrated perfectly on “Flight Song,” which features a mantra-like bass clarinet melody beholden to shimmering synthesizer patterns. Golden Retriever’s compositions are inviting and relentlessly listenable, embracing both emotional depth and wild abandon without betraying the hidden framework of complexity within.

Myriadd – Time Will Tell

Myriadd -Time Will Tell

Label: Crème Organization

Release date: 10-02-2014
Source: WEB
Format: MP3
Quality: 320 kbps
Size: 60 mb
Genre: Electronic
Style: House, Electronic

Tracklist:
A1. Time Will Tell
A2. Forever Yours
B1. Golden Section
B2. At One

Myriadd is Craig Stainton, a producer that has also released as Acid Phreex and Mantra on labels such as Bunker Records, Signals and Creme Organization, to where he returns now with a new four track EP that explores plenty of mystic house and techno territory.

Kicking off the release is ‘Time Will Tell’, which is a nicely frayed, rough round the edges bit of house music with a deep and lashing bassline as well as some rich and rounded melodic hooks. ‘Forever Yours’ kicks that bit harder and more insistently but bares the same sense of misty melodic lushness. Various lines fly about like spirits in the night and bring a haunting sense of melancholy to proceedings before B1 ‘Gold Section’ hiccups and stutters pleasingly. Like everything here, it’s a fairly rich, dense track that layers everything on top of each other with little break for breath. Final track ‘At One’ is backed with the sort of serene pads that have you day dreaming about the future as jacked up beats kick below and all manner of synths whip around in the foreground. House music never sounded as magical as when in the hands of the talented Myriadd.

Claro Intelecto – Peace Of Mind EP

claro intelecto - peace of mind

Label: Delsin
Catalog#: x-dsr5-ltd
Release date: 17-02-2014
Source: WEB
Format: MP3
Quality: 320 kbps
Size: 50 mb
Genre: Electronic
Style: Techno / Electro / Leftfield

Tracklist:
A1. Peace Of Mind (Electrosoul) (6:16)
A2. Tone (4:52)
B1. Contact (4:52)
B2. Signifier (6:22)

Back in March 2003 Claro Intelecto announced his arrival in the electronic world with his Peace Of Mind EP on Ai Records. Now, a decade later, Delsin, the label on which he released his latest LP, is re-releasing it in all its glory. Across four perfectly formed tracks the EP proved Manchester’s Mark Stewart to have a fine grasp on techno, electro and dub, and that he was able to do his own unique things with each.

Arguably the most well known cut from the EP is ‘Peace of Mind (Electrosoul)’, a busy bit of chattery house-come-electro that is wired up with many zithering melody lines and Claro’s trademark lush strings. ‘Tone’ is then a much more frazzled and aggressive bit of techno with raw, slapping percussion, gurgling synth lines and plenty of dystopian electro vibes. ‘Contact’ then settles into a deep, dubby, spacious groove with airy hi hats and a delightful bassline and carries you along effortlessly, and final track ‘Signifier’ closes things out in beautifully serene style with ambient swirling pads, organic synths and a curious bassline that rises and falls like the tide. Seminal stuff that still fetches a high price on Discogs, it was the start of a remarkable career for Claro Intelecto.

Their follow-up to Fabric 52 – the duo’s last commercially available mix CD – takes a lowlit side-entrance into a private backroom of pharmaceutically effective aces opening with Grouper’s ‘Vanishing Point’ and closing with an amazing cover of Suicide’s ‘Dream Baby Dream’. In between they cut a path thru the slow strobes and flashing red lights via deepest techno from Terrence Dixon and Kraftwerk-sampling house from QX-1 to the slow throb of Recondite’s ‘Cleric’ to an amazing pile-up of Byetone’s ‘Plastic Star’/Kode 9 & The Space Ape’s ‘Sine Of The Dub’/Hieroglyphic Being’s ‘Imaginary Soundscapes 9’/Silent Servant ‘Invocation’, through to another amazing run of Hecker ‘bsfºtyk 5’/ Nurse With Wound ‘Ketamineaphobia’/Cater Tutti ‘Coolicon’ and more from Deadboy, Like A Tim and Voigt & Voigt.
