Following on from Lightfields (2010), and his collection of ambient works ‘And All Is As It Should Be'(2012), British electronic producer Adam Fielding’s is set to return to Distinctive with a new album titled ‘Icarus’. As ever, Fielding’s productions are rich with drama, space and intention. His work always carries a distinctly cinematic narrative; a trait that’s picked up by the film production houses that regularly champion his work. Opening the album is the title track and first single off the album.It’s a vocal opus charged with breathy pads, smart string arrangements and snappy beats. ‘Fireworks’ is a powerful follow-on, with an undulating synth bass line and expansive tonal work. For ‘Are Lights Approaching’, he takes a thumping 4×4 beat and envelops it in his signature textures, topping it off with an edgy vocal delivery that gives a raw, low-slung feel. Next up, ‘All We Ever Wanted’ introduces some acoustic guitar tones and yearning lyrics to the mix to create a haunting ballad. ‘Somewhere Out There’ is an ambient piece, just vocals and ethereal pads on this one that builds to a cathartic end. ‘Hiding From January’ is purely instrumental, showcasing Fielding’s intricate beat programming skills. Next, we have ‘Out of Reach’. It’s a propulsive stomper with a darker, industrial space-age feel. Fielding’s effected vocals adding to the crystalline finish. ‘High Rise Downfall’ uses a forceful broken beat pattern to punctuate beautiful synthetic atmospheres before some warm piano and guitar chords kick in to switch the vibe. ‘Break Me Down’ carries on the piano themes,this time paired with dynamic ‘rock-esque’ beats and chord progressions to make one of the album’s proper epics. ‘A Fire In The Sky’ is a moody and contemplative, acting as the level-setting precursor to one of the more accomplished vocal tracks on the album, ‘Ashes By Dawn’. Fielding’s vocal takes centre stage here, and it’s nothing short of breathtaking. As a final reprise, he delivers a short yet stunning string arrangement using the movements of the opening ‘Icarus.’ A fitting end to a record

In the here and now of house and techno, a flux is taking place. This of course is of no concern for someone like Franck Roger. He was there in the beginning, and he never went away. In his years of service to the groove, he has evolved slowly and calmly, staying true to his fundamental sound without ever resting for too long. From his allegiance with Real Tone Records to commissions from such legends as Masters At Work, Franck has represented that most dependable and humble of talents; never following the hype or tapping into overused approaches in a genre that has been operating for more than thirty years. In all this time, Franck has only ever delivered one previous album, and so we are very proud at Circus Company to be bringing a seriously overdue long-player to light that embraces the classicism of a true house music great, while writing a new chapter in his on-going story. For sure, there are moments of heart-warming familiarity on Extensions Of Yesterday, and this is no more apparent than in the soulful croon of Francks long-standing vocalist of choice, Mandel Turner, on centre-piece track Sands Of Time. With a punchy, feel-good energy, the track explores the very idea the title of the album points to. There is an abundance of passion and pride for the good old days, but this is about bringing that feeling forwards rather than trying to go back to it. Away from these more flamboyant moments, the album moves into more searching, adventurous tones. There is a hypnotic, dubby sensibility to a lot of the tracks, as luxurious chords echo around unmistakable Roger percussion. You can just as easily find yourself roused by soaring techno visions full of empowering melodies, or subconsciously slide down into smoked-out boogie for the 21st century. While all around him young upstarts attempt to define their sound through the achievements of their forefathers, Franck Roger strides forth with a maturity that can only come from one who has already done yesterday and now looks to the next logical step.

It has been 10 years since Fort Knox Five released their first singles, and this past decade has proven very fruitful for the funky foursome. 2003 saw the launch of both Fort Knox Five and their seminal Fort Knox Recordings imprint. To celebrate this milestone, Fort Knox Five have selected 15 of their favorite original tracks from the entire decade.

Fort Knox Five has had the pleasure of collaborating with some incredible vocalists who are well represented on this collection. Mustafa Akbar of Thunderball and Nappy Riddem is featured on several tracks, as are Rootz and Zeebo of See-I and Thievery Corporation. The Godfather of Electro Funk himself, Afrika Bambaataa is featured on two tracks. Asheru, best known for his Boondocks theme song is on the opening track. Thievery Corporation’s dancehall voice, Sleepy Wonder as well as DC’s own DIY legend Ian Svenonius are both featured. The list continues with former US3 front-man and prolific artist Akil Dasan and the Zulu Nation’s King Kamonzi. Rounding out the list of featured vocalists is Beta-G, on loan from the US Department of Bhangra.

This body of music not only spans 10 years of Fort Knox Five in the studio, but also live performances and dj appearances worldwide. This music has been performed and played for countless thousands of fans around the globe. These tunes have also been heard in such great movies as The Cove (2010 Academy Award Winner), Stand Up Guys and You Again as well as TV shows like The Fringe. Versalife returns to the Clone West Coast Series for more under sea level electro-techno. After his debut 12inch series Night Time Activities, here a full length album inspired by the horizons and emptyness of his home lands in Friesland. Accompanied by beautyful artwork of fellow Frisian, and one of Hollands most talented painters, Robert Zandvliet (who happens to have his atelier around the corner of the Clone Hq). His amazing painting “Winter by Jouswier” (spread among the front and backside of the gatefold sleeve) symbolizes perfectly the rhythm of the open spaces in Friesland. Especialy in the whitened more abstract and cold winter landscape thats almost synonym for Versalife’s abstract ice cold electro techno.
