Brock Van Wey’s newest record is meant “as a tribute to life itself,” and was recorded live over a week—one track each day—after the passing of his cat Tanto, who he describes as his “brother and best friend.” It marks a reopening of his Quietus label, which has been dormant since 2011, and is made and printed locally in the Bay Area “on an actual printing press, using real paper and ink.” 100 percent of proceeds from the LP will go to benefit the UC Davis Center for Feline Infectious Peritonitis.
