Brooklyn’s finest Razor-N-Tape bring us a five-track EP from Prince of Queens, AKA Colombian-born (but NYC-raised) Felipe Quiroz, a multi-instrumentalist and producer whose music blends house, disco, Afro-Caribbean and Latin influences. If dense, shuffling beats are your thing then step right up, because this EP has ’em by the bucketload – along with (variously) esoteric wind instruments, effervescent high-life guitars, wood-block percussion, mournful mariachi trumpets, etc etc etc… a treat for lovers of leftfield, tropically tinged grooves while the mood piece ‘Summer Rain’ could perhaps have slightly broader appeal.
