French techno project The Welderz makes their premiere on Unrilis with BINARY TERNARY EP. Jérémy and Cyril started The Welderz in 2012 as an outlet for their experiences as a DJ and producer, respectively. With an expansive knowledge ranging all the way back to the late 90s, the Welderz bring tremendous energy to their work, both in the studio and at live shows, while also introducing audiences to unique pathways that are at times raw, groovy, and full of mental melody. Their newest 2015 releases speak well to a solid command of their genre as well as a refusal to stop pushing into new spaces. Working under the alias Secluded, Sleaze Records label boss Hans Bouffmyhre brings inspiration from Berlin and Detroit to his explorations of techno vibe sounds. His deep soundscapes effect a gloomy atmosphere as they travel along hubby synth passages and darker beats. His remix the Welderz Binary track testifies to his musical prowess, demonstrating that only big things can be expected from him in the future. Binary Ternary – The immediacy of this track grabs us with a deep thumping behind hospital-style blips, right before this track takes off into extremely danceable beats. We dont get to relax, though, as harder synths dive in before the beat launches us back up to even more new effects. Sounds like steel gates opening and shutting resound across the track, taking its time to push upward with a masterful anticipation before dropping us again into even faster beats and new ground that is everything a wild ride like this should be. Binary Ternary (Secluded remix) – This remix takes off from the start with speeds that would definitely make for a great dance hit, but then refuses settle for the usual formula. A storming beat is soon coupled with a background of soft-sounding bells, escalating this track to a thing of beauty that partners wonderfully with the accompanying darkness. The duality at work enriches the track with a multi-faceted approach, delving into new territory the way truly great electronic music does. I Dont Know Where – The intro catches listeners from the first note, making you lean in to hear more from small sounds teasing through a steady drum beat that deepens as it charges forward. We are then taken into some strange, new territory here, with sound effects that sound like steel slicing through the air and beats that are never predictable. Tandem is not the goal here, more of a partnership of different beats that only add to a successful and very repeatable track. Overdrive – Sounds usually reserved for ambience get put to creative and exciting uses on this track, escalating into danceable beats that take darker essences up to new levels. The background behind the inventiveness at play here makes for an interesting partner, at times keeping pace with the rest of the song, only to later slow down or even take center stage on its own strength. The attention to detail is obvious, weaving elements that are both danceable and fascinating together masterfully.
