Mater is the first of two distinctive new record labels/music platforms at the heart of an evolving creative concept headed by Diego Tuñón (the Grammy Award winning producer & keyboardist from Argentina’s Babasónicos, one of the top 5 rock bands in South America) and Jimmy Van M (renowned global DJ/Producer, electronic music craftsman & creator of the Sasha and John Digweed Delta Heavy Tour, with over 20 years experience). Mater is focused on electronic dance artists from outside Latin America, whilst Xperimental (launching April 2016) will focus on developing a label roster of exceptional young Latin electronic artists from all over the South American continent. A flow of exciting cross-cultural artistic pollination between both music labels will be a key feature. Honoured with Maters launch release is Peter Csaszar (aka Peet) from Budapest, Hungary, who is already winning much respect for developing his own ever-evolving, unique style, characterised by his mixing electronica with deep, melodic and cutting-edge techno, and who has now found a new and creatively expansive home on Diego Tuñón and Jimmy Van Ms exciting new Mater mothership. Watermelon Stories displays a relaxed ethereal beauty that builds into a menacingly absorbing, hypnotizing masterpiece, as Peet works his magic by drawing from a musical palette that references a classic electronic past with a distinctly futuristic edge. The excitement increases as Deeper Still wastes no time launching dramatically with an intense, bubbling, linear power groove that evolves through an array of electronic flourishes and drops that serve to subtly enhance and build the tracks energy inexorably throughout. In distinct creative contrast ‘The Other Side Of The Giant Marble’ is a piece of slo-mo experimental electronica with fantastic filmic qualities. This intriguing theme is expanded upon by Diego Tuñon & Jimmy Van M Remix as they build a mind-meltingly delicious, low-slung 111bpm groove, with a multitude of stunning twists and turns that takes ‘Giant Marble’ on an unforgettable journey into the future, exhibiting to perfection the boundless creative freedom within the Mater ethos. By joining the dots between electronic musics universal, futuristic possibilities and Latin Americas pulsating live musical heritage, a fresh and passionate, exciting musical/cultural mix is set to evolve and develop across the Mater and Xperimental platforms.
