Antidote opens its 2025 account with an impressive release from teenage prodigy Mees Javois. With a focus on distinctive but impactful club techno throughout, Wasteland makes for an assured debut. “Exit Strategy” boasts the same understated but punchy style as vintage Klockworks, while “Sure” fuses tribal kicks with dreamy synth builds. “Sonide” sees Javois offer up a darker sound, as moody chords are set to a relentless, driving rhythm. The title track explores a halfway house where late 90s UK tech-house and Detroit techno meet, with clattering drums providing the backdrop for atmospheric pads. “Hiders” marks another shift in style, as Javois conjures up a bass-heavy groove and swirling, sensuous melodies.
