Happa, pursues a uniquely infectious big room sound on Pt/5, the label he set up with Al Gill in 2014. We’re really feeling the coruscating tang of A-side, ‘Chewy Teeth’, with its lightshow of keening, bittersweet synths displaying Happa’s wayward electronic tastes, whilst the jagged groove offers a subtly twisted take on current arena techno styles. Flipside, he cools off with swaggering bassline and sparse, blank-eyed vocal stabs in ‘Ascension’ subtly alleviated with trancing synth build to sound a bit like New Order gone techno, before ‘Crickets’ deals in a crankier sort of industrial house akin to Kassem Mosse gone L.I.E.S.
