The Beyond The Wizard Sleeve project from Erol Alkan and Richard Norris finally delivered the psychedelic treat of a debut album we all knew they could this year. Having been preceded by some fine remix 12″s featuring Psychemagik and Shock Machine, Phantasy Sound pick up on the series again with a single featuring the highly-regarded talents of one Daniel Avery. The straight-faced DJ and producer turns his attentions to “The Soft Bounce,” morphing the track into into a bubbly, bleep-heavy techno bullet with plenty of atmosphere and zest, whereas BTU rework “Third Mynd” into a whirlpool of sludgy outsider sonics that recall the weirder end of the Hanson Records spectrum. Fans of labels like PAN might well enjoy this little TIP!
