It’s the first light of day for both Vrac and Subtil Records, so with no background to go on it’s pure face value for this new production partnership. In line with the strong current of minimal records of recent times, there’s a range of grooves from linear patterns to breakbeat flows, with plenty of space for sound design and experimentation around those featherweight frameworks. “Pertu” in particular features some playful sounds and samples that echo out in the plentiful space afforded, while “Amp” gets into a more techy frame of mind with its sci-fi synth sounds. “Boariam” rounds things out with a more rolling rhythm and plenty of dubby textures for a less surgical approach to production.
