Tricked-out techno killers from Dan Jugel and Beau Wanzer’s new Juzer duo on Anthony Parasole’s label. The New York force is strong on this one with four no-nonsense pounders built for optimal effect. A-side fires up a vintage Regis-styled weapon in ‘Couch Mover’ and almost PCP-strength kicks synched to rail-gunning 16th note hi-hat attacks on ‘Horseplay’. Flipside they slow things down a BPM or five for the swinging, jacking 4am coda of ‘Short Round’, and the pneumatic bounce of ‘Temple II’.

Founded in 2012, Anthony Parasole’s label The Corner has swiftly established a niche for itself in New York City’s resurgent house and techno scene, and has become defined not by genre but the high quality of artists involved. DJ Qu, Fred P, Phil Moffa, Shawn O’Sullivan, Beau Wanzer and Tom Dicicco are amongst those to help establish The Corner as a label of true quality and the seventh release more than keeps up the standards. Parasole himself is involved, teaming up once more with old mucker Phil Moffa for a trio of techno burners. Lead track “Pressure” is appropriately titled with some dynamic EQing effects that are the work of a duo with a full understanding of what makes a dancefloor go crazy. The accompanying “Reduction” may pay homage to Terrence Dixon’s work as Population One whilst “Pitched Black” is a pure banger – just listen!
