MINEO is the latest reincarnation of Tom Dinsdale, the British DJ and producer who made up one half of Audio Bullys, and it’s on the Ghju Lia EP for Hypercolour that the project really lets fly. Get It Cracking sets the tone, imaginatively chopped up vox and skippy tight beats, a floating clarinet line and somber piano plays off against the jazzy undertones, and the heavy b-line. Are You Sick continues the theme, well placed samples and a lively arrangement keep things refreshing and the good groove settles the score. A subtle yet driving breakbeat on My Style works a treat, whilst closing track In This Era is a proper mash up of styles, bleep central with a large doseage of funk and wobbly bass action, wicked stuff from MINEO, showing a huge flare of imagination across the whole EP.
