Metasplice – Vertia / Tiled Eighths

Philly’s finest circuit scorchers return to Morphosis’ label with an iridescent new sound following an acclaimed trio of blackened noise/techno 12″s. Still improvised/hacked by fingers on modified hardware, for this outing they’ve replaced much of the atonal noise elements with glistening, dissonant hi-end bleeps and scything, glassy tones underpinned by rugged techno rhythms. The intrepid A-side ‘Vertia’ explores a unique dimension of sheer, shearing tones right on the brink of the pain threshold, whilst B-side ‘Tiled Eighths’ strobes spotlighting blips and chimes around a cavernous warehouse techno space until a denouement of rusted, rollicking industrial techno. Imagine Jason Lesscalleet remixing early Ø sides and you’ve got the idea. Recommended.
