Over the last 12 months Gavin’s established an enviable rep with sophisticated, jakked-up 12″s for the likes of Dixon Avenue Basement Jams and L.I.E.S., and this eponymous album introduction for Holland’s Creme Organization is set to spread his rep much further. Hailing from Texas, the birthplace of ecstasy use in clubs, it’s perhaps no wonder that his sound has a really tactile lushness; from the warm, swirling chords and swinging groove of ‘Soundtrack 909’ thru the eye-fluttering flux and kinky 727 patterns of ‘Palm Sunday’ to the trancing acid rush and DMT refractions of ‘Desmond’s Obsession’ his music brims with a utopian, futurist optimism that can’t be sniffed at and is bound to work wonders on the right ‘floors.
