Romanian duo TC Studio has previously excelled with their collaborative projects on All Inn Black, Archipel and their own eponymous imprint. Here, they take a different approach, dropping an album featuring three solo tracks each. Matei Tulbure handles side A, variously delivering smoky, clandestine rhythms (“Bleue”), low-slung analogue fluidity (the bassy tech-house swing of “Sang Froid”) and off-kilter, hypnotic house (the surprisingly melodic “Fine Bouche”). Traian Chereches offers a trio of looser, more organic tracks on the flip, flitting between woozy deep house, jackin’, jazz-influenced experimentation (LP highlight “Pied Noir”) and hard-to-define goodness (“Rouge”, which layers sampled acoustic guitars and similarly organic touches over a rolling, snare-heavy groove).
