Scottish techno stalwart Stephen Brown continues his long-running assault on the global techno scene with his first release for a.r.t.less, bringing forth two tracks that trade on his knack for machine soul and crisp robotic funk. “SD1” is a stripped down affair that hinges on a simple repeating melodic phrase while thin slithers of drums dart around it. “Free & Easy” is the more gregarious of the two, with some heavily swung drums bouncing around playful dashes of synth in a style that will instantly appeal to fans of Brown’s take on techno.
