Deeparture (NL) – Embraer

Deeparture has been a steadily rising influence across the underground dance scene. Returning to Proton Music, “Embraer” showcases a brand-new track alongside a pair of new remixes. A Dutch artist with an increasingly impressive portfolio, Dominique Vijverberg has become a regular on some of the finest underground imprints with his Deeparture production moniker. Supported by such illustrious names as Hernan Cattaneo, Guy Mantzur and Eelke Kleijn, Strange Town Recordings, ICONYC and One Of A Kind have featured Deeparture’s distinctive melodic sound. May 2017’s “Flight of Imagination” witnessed a sparkling twin-track original debut on Proton Music and it is a pleasure to welcome Deeparture back with the beautifully crafted “Embraer”. Skipping along with prominent off-beat percussive cadence and strong kick, a sustained bassline makes for the perfect vehicle to showcase a searing analogue lead-line that is reprised effortlessly throughout the track. Simultaneously, a swathe of counterpoint melodies found in the shape of pads and arpeggios, create a rich sonic collage against which to demonstrate Deeparture’s growing talent. Iconic Brazilian artist, Andre Sobota, has been at the vanguard of the electronic music scene for a number of years. Able to adapt to any musical style, Sobota crosses genre boundaries with ease, witnessed by an official remix of Coldplay and Rihanna and 500 production credits sitting proudly for the likes of microCastle, Toolroom and Anjunadeep. It is with Proton Music that Andre Sobota has continued to be a long-time friend – from “One Day Out” to “Unmute” and, most recently, with June 2018’s “Robots”, Sobota has shone brightly on the label. Remixes of Ryan Davis, Silinder and Magitman are now joined by a trademark sound delivered on his rerub of “Embraer”. Cleverly using Deeparture’s melodic lead line to stunning effect, Sobota’s skill is to build a chorus of new production material around it that revels in pounding beat and immaculate sound design. White-noise effects create a shaker-like effect and a hallmark bass groove is a joy to behold, erupting post-breakdown into a wall of sound. Venturing out on his own after success as part of duo, Progress Inn, Janko Dragovic’s Desaturate soubriquet has seen no let-up in success. Contributor to the “Wildwood” podcast series and voted “Best Progressive DJ in Western Australia” for two consecutive years while living there, Desaturate has seen his production work signed to the likes of Balkan Connection, Particles and One Of A Kind, with increasing frequency. A regular on Proton Music over the past 12 months, January 2018’s three-track “Wanderer” EP was a notable highlight hot on the heels of remixes of Nocturna and Pete K. Returning with an impressive take on “Embraer”, a thumping beat and syncopated rhythm section provide the perfect backdrop for a growling bassline and pads, rooted firmly in Deeparture’s original, to coruscate throughout. Building into a dancefloor destroyer, a gated version of the central melodic theme makes its presence felt and an inimitable blend of mature additional production material takes “Embraer” on an exciting new path. With dramatic remixes from Andre Sobota and Desaturate, Deeparture’s “Embraer” takes flight on a voyage of discovery.
