Hot on the heels of his well-received debut EP on Akulee, Tapesh pops up on W&O Street Tracks with two slabs of sweaty, glowstick-sporting rave-meets-tech-house fusion. Opener “Understand” hits home hard from the start, with all manner of quirky vocal snippets and eccentric, cut-up samples riding a throbbing, late night, warehouse friendly groove. The drums, synths and electronics are even wilder on “Control”, which gains much of its’ power from a fantastically heavy analogue bassline, cut-up hip-hop vocal samples and fizzing percussion. It sounds a little like a combination of Adonis’s “No Way Back”, early UK bleep records, and Tyree style hip-house; that’s got to be a winner, right?
