Bulgarian hardware maverick KiNK is back, this time on Singapore based Midnight Shift who have presented great releases previously by L/F/D/M, Mr G and John Heckle. First track “Chorus” features hands in the air synth stabs that resonate and modulate to a mighty crescendo over a dry, skittering rhythm. Second offering “Madame X” delves deeper on this low slung acid number, where the signature wobble of the Roland TB-303 faces off with a bare bones TR-909 rhythm; simple yet effective. Finally “Emotional Breakdown” goes for some off kilter electro flavour with its broken beat accompanied by emotive pads and spacey modular squeals on this fine example of deconstructed hi-tech soul.
