Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondent label continues the cool, dark new wave sound that evolved from her time as a resident in Parisian electroclash institution Le Pulp. Here Javi Redondo fits in with this agenda perfectly by providing three slices of nonchalant, cigarette-puffing disco-noir. “Summer On Repeat” is steeped in Euro melancholia – all arpeggiated riffs and hiding-behind-wayfarers-on-a-windswept-beach tragedy. Elsewhere “Sun Sign” is hypnotic middle-eastern electronica with a Kill The DJ-style twist and “Narcotic Luv” is pure Giorgio Moroder at his most haunted.
