Venezuelan duo Fur Coat return for Crosstown Rebels; the label they’ve these days become very synonymous with. On the Number’s EP they present three very functional dark journey tracks, something different from their usual pop inflected tech house that they’ve served up on labels like Hot Creations and BPitch Control over the years. On “Twenty Eight” its a fairly adrenalised techno jam with sombre and atmospheric elements as well as some wonky synth leads which show off a flair for current musical trends. The high-octane remix by Matrixxman’s affiliate from San Francisco: Vin Sol, serves up a steely and banging industrial techno rework with a seriously humming, Jesper Dahlback style of bassline. Finally “Twenty Six” presents listeners with one more slice of dancefloor drama, with shimmering vintage arpeggios, doomy synth leads and minimal rusty rhythms, all working in perfect harmony.
