After Sushitech did such a fine job of reissuing his classic early works, its little wonder Steve O’Sullivan decided to grace the label with some fresh material in the aftermath. The four tracks on Interchangeable Patterns Part 1 deliver for any fan of the Bluetrain / Wise Caucasian sound, keeping a strict economy over what gets in to the track and reveling in the space left around the sounds. Its how dub techno should be made, and from the upfront thrust of “Track 1” to the beatless drift of “Track 2” O’Sullivan demonstrates exactly why he’s such a legend in this field.
