Having previously included a clutch of tracks from DJ Assam on 2015’s multi-artist Back Quality EP, Lehult has decided to out the producer’s debut solo EP. Happily, there’s much to admire throughout, from the Larry Heard-goes-to-Germany shuffle of far-sighted opener “With A Sound In My Heart”, and the loose, comforting, late night deepness of “8040” – all smoky vocal samples, soft-touch bass and rolling riffs – to the breezy, near horizontal house jazziness of “The Importance of Bring Island”. Arguably best of all, though, is Johan Kaseta collaboration “7668”, an ultra-deep trip into experimental, slow-mo house territory smothered in eyes-closed late night soul
