Balearic-minded Leeds trio Clandestino (AKA Joe Morris, Nick Smith and Iain McBeath) has previously impressed via fine singles on Nein, Is It Balearic? and their own eponymous imprint. Predictably, this EP is another breezy beauty full of kaleidoscopic electronics, colourful synthesizers and audible smiles. “Another Horizon” is particularly potent, featuring as it does a mixture of clattering drum machine hits, high-grade TB-303 acid lines and sparkling synth-work. James Hadfield channels the spirit of the Italian dream house movement on his blissful accompanying remix. Elsewhere, “Quiet Storm” is presented in two contrasting versions: the proto-house/Chicago jack/Balearic fusion style original, and a typically cheery, electric piano-heavy Balearic disco re-rub from the reliable Pete Herbert.
