Jamal Moss whips it good in tribute to Chicago’s legendary Gherkin Jerks label. Vol.1 sports eight body-slamming and surprisingly undistorted club trax produced by the keeper of windy city spirit in June of 2015. They’re freaky, hard-boned jack trax full of kinks and whistles; intently focussed on the groove and and strange, wiry electronics – mostly skeletal and powerfully tracky but also with entrancing splashes of colour in the cyclic flutes of ‘Track 05’, the chromatic lilt of ‘Track 07’ or the frayed bleeps sprayed about ‘Track 02’.
