This is one of those EPs that would be easy to skip past, though that would be a mistake. You see, Stoke On Trent’s Rich Lane has genuinely hit the spot with the dub-wise nu-disco chug of “Sweat Out The Suicide”. Sat somewhere between the electric bass-propelled disco dub of Fernando, the shimmering Balearic nu-disco of Reverso 68, and the effects unit madness of the Idjut Boys, Lane’s original is something of an unheralded gem. The accompanying dub, featuring tighter grooves and greater emphasis on the killer bassline, is arguably even better. If you fancy a more electronic interpretation heavily influenced by space disco, look no further than Lane’s own Cotton Bud Remix. Tip!
