In some ways, this collaboration is surprising; after all, Jay Shepheard is known for his impeccable take on deep house, whilst Pete Herbert excels in delivering sparkling, Balearic and Italo-inclined nu-disco. In the end, the fusion of the two producers’ styles is seamless. “Parador”, for example, has the warm and rolling feel of one of Shepheard’s chunky house numbers, but also benefits from the colourful, boogie style synthesizers that Herbert is renowned for. Virtual flipside “Mirage” ups the dreamy deep house quota, with Herbert seemingly content to deliver spacey sounds and fizzing synth stabs. Either way, both tracks are undeniably tasty
