The trio of Thomas Cox, Preslav Lefterov and Adam Ratana have been busy since their first EP, The First Four on Uzuri, in 2011. In addition to releasing around a dozen EPs for labels like Work Them and Further along with their own Pittsburgh Tracks, they’ve toured as DJs and live performers, and Cox has become a columnist for Attack Magazine. Romanian duo TC Studio has previously excelled with their collaborative projects on All Inn Black, Archipel and their own eponymous imprint. Here, they take a different approach, dropping an album featuring three solo tracks each. Matei Tulbure handles side A, variously delivering smoky, clandestine rhythms (“Bleue”), low-slung analogue fluidity (the bassy tech-house swing of “Sang Froid”) and off-kilter, hypnotic house (the surprisingly melodic “Fine Bouche”).
