Artist Oby Nine
Title Serotonin
Genre House, UK Garage
Label INI Movement
Catalog# INI015
Released 20 jan 2014

Play Time 31:37 min

Bitrate 320 kbps

1. Serotonin ( 5:15)
2. Serotonin (Jarreau Vandal Remix) ( 3:43)
3. Serotonin (Moods Remix) ( 4:25)
4. Serotonin (Umoja Remix) ( 5:52)
5. Serotonin (Esteble Remix) ( 6:43)
6. Serotonin (Moiety Remix) ( 5:39)

The wunderkind Oby Nine is no stranger to Amsterdam based INI Movement. As a label fixture, he contributed to Vuelo Nocturno Remixes EP and was featured on De Gulden Snede I. He now returns aiming for the brain with his own remix EP in hand. Oby’s latest musical project is an aural inquiry into the pleasure-inducing chemical, serotonin, which lends its name to this EP. The Serotonin Remix EP is a collection of Oby’s Serotonin single and various remixes.

The EP is a collaborative endeavour between Oby and five phenomenal Dutch producers. On Serotonin, we witness Oby Nine, Jarreau Vandal, Umoja, Moiety, Moods and Esteble all flexing their production chops. Each producer offers his own interpretation of Serotonin, by way of structural and melodic re-arrangements. Radiating from the eclectic re-interpretations, Serotonin Remix EP takes on the air of cohesive divergence. The EP’s overall sound is solid and consistent, whilst sounds of individual tracks are deviations from one another. The heterogeneous styles of contributing producers induce a sense of musical adventure. A sensory trip, where the listener hears, feels and envisages familiar sensory patterns albeit each pattern being quiet unfamiliar. As Oby Nine puts it “my idea for this EP is to create something that can help release serotonin in the brain of listeners”, that’s exactly what this EP has achieved.

Oby’s remix EP charts through UK garage, house, Brazilian bossa, groovy bass and crispy beats. The elusive novelty realized by Serotonin Remix EP is its holistic sound. The manner by which it moulds various distinctive sounds into one “feel good” expedition. An expedition of the mind as variations of serotonin is released into the brain.

Occultsystem is Canadian producer Robert Squire’s first release on the LA label, and also marks a major return to music after moving to Montreal to open a barber shop. The one-time hip-hop producer formerly known as Sixtoo (and one member of Megasoid) has lived all around Canada, and he established the Prison Garde moniker while in Vancouver around 2011 as an outlet for house and boogie-influenced hardware jams. The imprint calls the tape “ten of his starkest greyscale technoid skeletons” made using “a TR-909, Moog Minitaur, Juno-60, Tetra synthesizer, 3630 Compressor, some pedals, and a mixing desk.” Montrealer Ango and Vancouverites Ace Decade and Kevin Eames also contributed to the release, which is out digitally today. You can stream “Black Grey Modulator” below.

Artist: Vincent Casanova
Title Of Album: Sublime Subculture
Year Of Release: 12 may 2014
Label: Archipel / ARCH106
Genre: Techno, House, Minimal
Quality: MP3
Bitrate: 320 kbps
Total Time: 01:11:39
Total Size: 167 mb

Tracklist:
01. Vibrance
02. Lower East Slide
03. Lazy Lazer
04. King of Sea
05. Heights
06. Golden Burial
07. Emerald Wind
08. Emerald Wind (Alicia’s Chromium Mix)
09. Bad Magic
10. Associonic

Vincent Casanovas bouncy, stripped-down sound hints at summer. Muted bass notes and pleasant synth lines are accompanied by ethereal vocal samples and dancing rhythms. A dreamy optimism flows throughout the album, making it cohesive and easy on the ears. Some of the definitive aspects of this release are the engaging grooves, and charming melodies that complement the percussive structure. This latest release shows skill with space and lightness. As a counterpart to that lightness, ARCH106 features an Alicia remix that demonstrates dexterity with depth. Overall, Casanovas music is a combination of solid musical arrangement and artistic wit.
