2. Smoke & Mirrors (Hanfry Martinez Remix)6:12
3. Nobodies Freakin (Original Mix)6:30
4. Body (Original Mix)6:49

“Smoke & Mirrors” is a classy slab of house with a chunky break doing its thang alongside horn stabs, funk vocal snippets and a bowel bothering bottom end. Its a solid number that manages to swerve any easy genre tagging and provide something to pique the interest of those seeking something slightly left of centre. One Records Hanfry Martinez drops in next to iron out the kinks and turn the opener into something a bit more straightforward but no less interesting before the rest of the EP is handed back to System2. Third track “Nobodies Freakin” keeps things moving nicely with its driving 4/4 rhythm, bass hook and haunting synth hook that just sits just nicely beneath the surface before things get a tad more energetic again with “Body”.

The trio of Thomas Cox, Preslav Lefterov and Adam Ratana have been busy since their first EP, The First Four on Uzuri, in 2011. In addition to releasing around a dozen EPs for labels like Work Them and Further along with their own Pittsburgh Tracks, they’ve toured as DJs and live performers, and Cox has become a columnist for Attack Magazine. (Read more about the group in the feature we wrote last year.)

They remain fiercely loyal to their Pennsylvania hometown, their production ethic (the album is named after Machine Age, Lefterov’s recording studio) and all-encompassing definition of house music. All of the above is evident on Enter The Machine Age: you’ll find the group and their extended family (pets included) on the cover, and a range of styles—from disco to more driving Detroit-indebted tunes—on the record itself. Pittsburgh Tracks is handling the release

A4. B2 – Forever (Galcher Lustwerk Remix) ( 5:44)

Lobster Theremin’s white label series is inaugurated by the label’s formidable golden boy Palms Trax. Rising from the vintage grooves of his Equation EP, this time round Palms’ is on much more raucous form.. Whether it be the hyper-resonated darkness of Forever, the hammer-stomping ‘Raw Jam’ or summer electro tip ‘Lost Control. Galcher Lustwerk on the remix too.. This is serious stuff!!
