After two free EP’s courtesy of Infest and Domu, Sector 12/12 unleash their first official release, Baniza by Mike Davis.

This collection features four tracks of uncompromising techno taking inspiration from the raw side of house music and 90’s 303 acid culture, what makes this collection stand out is its freeness. It could be argued that the structure and arrangements fall more in line with jazz than traditional techno.

Mike manages to avoid the constraints of techno production and delivers natural yet unpredictable arrangements. Themes and moods change throughout taking you on a journey through Berlin via Detroit.

This EP results in a wonderful excursion through the deepest depths of electronica and serves as the perfect introduction to Mike’s sound.

Future music firmly grounded in dance floor culture with the attitude of a 1970’s jazz or punk record.

Whoever is behind the AC EXP project has clearly worked very hard to ensure their identity remains under wraps, with zilch info out there on the big old internet. Which is a shame because there’s a degree of class to the two untitled productions on this 10″ that demands some recognition. Both are unassuming club tools that any deep house selector will appreciate a few hours into their set, all swirling, dubby atmospherics, tunnelling rhythms and snapping percussion.

During these days where lo-fi analogue house productions seems to be the it thing, its time to dig out a release by one of the true pioneers of house music. Not an outsider but one of the names thats been around forever and thats known for several timeless house classics. Almost 20 years after its original release date we are happy to share this forgotten and overlooked gem by Roy Davis Jr. – Roy’s Basement Traxx. Originally released as 4 track ep on Kumba Records, but we thought it was appropriate to shine some light on our three favorites, Chemical Warfare, Jack Da Rhythms and Broken Machines. Three dirty, raw, jacking and most of all intense tracks, that are among the best things that came out of Chicago. Jerking rhythms, hypnotic synths and live arrangements stripped to the bare essential! Endless respect to Roy Davis Jr. for being such a versatile and inspirational producer. Oh and this one is not changing hands for big money (which we see so often as sales argument). Untill recently it actually always used to be pretty cheap on Discogs

The sweet soul sound of the Wolf Music stable continues to course its way through producers new and old, and this time vocalist Ishmael is getting a whole release to himself after a few spots on the various artist EPs the label is prone to. There’s a decent spread of moods here, with “Dejong” starting things off smooth and steady with its gentle Rhodes chords, before “Takoma” brings a more feisty kind of synth stab to bear on this late night heater. “Ashbury Roll” gets into a jazzy headspace with its choice keys and shuffling drums, and then Medlar steps up for a remix of “Takoma” that rains an embarrassment of boogie riches down upon the track.
