Sven Tasnadi could not have chosen a more personal title for his debut album,
because he is envisioning himself as a “slow”, relaxed person, with all the virtues and pitfalls coming with that.
“Slow” are also the tracks on his Album as the title implies, but not for
a conceptual reason.
They emerged during phases where the kick drum had to be left outside the studio.
It usually is under heavy use when the DJ and Producer from Leipzig is touring throughout
Germany and Europe or releasing on labels like Poker Flat Recordings, Cargo Edition,
Smalville and Liebe*Detail.
In between Sven Tasnadi likes to get off once in a while, trying new ways,
looking for relaxation within peaceful and contemplative sounds.
An album was initially not what he had in mind.
When tracks with those tonality piled up, he wondered, how this previously
unknown side of him, could break through the surface.
“Slow” shows another Sven Tasnadi, an explorer. A producer, who is seeking the
limits – his own and those of different genres. Dubby moments, disturbing,
ambient, playful, warm.
Between the Dub-HipHop-Hybrid “Where Eva” and the reduced, floating “Druide”
lies a world of difference.
On “Slow” it all comes together. A consistent sound with soothing edges and with plenty of stories in between the lines.
In “Daniel The Painter” for example, you can hear his friend Daniel Stefanik painting
his room and “Pancake Killers” captivates with the recording of a microphone test.
With “Slow” Sven Tasnadi is succeeding with an surprisingly unconventional album,
miles away from the club scene – yet being true to himself.

In a year of epic, and frankly exhausting marketing campaigns for the likes of Daft Punk and Borards of Canada, the surprise release of Blondes’ second album is a breath of air as fresh and breezy as its title Swisher sounds. Although still marked out by the duo’s fondness for thick, hazy, cosmic sounds and the spaciousness of classic dub techno, Swisher sees the pair expanding on their palette of sounds, though the dreamy, melodic progression of their debut album remains intact, most notably on “Andrew” and final track “Elise”. Yet there are times when Blondes sound in significantly tougher mood, with cuts such as “Wire” and “Bora Bora” sounding inspired to some degree by Andy Stott’s more recent murky techno deviations. Unsurprisingly, it comes highly recommended.
