Piston Recordings label boss RogErio Martins is next up on his own well-established label with a new track that gets plenty of great remix treatment from Joss Moog, James Dexter and JR From Dallas. Martins has steered his label through a dizzying amount of quality releases since 2007 picking up support from the likes of Laurent Garnier and John Aquaviva who have confirmed themselves as fans in the past and this new release is sure to find just as much favour with the top dogs. eGonna Be Mine is the one Martins original and is a classical inclined bit of mature house music with sombre piano chords draped over nicely shuffling percussion. Subtle human sounds litter the arrangement and more lively stabs enter the fray in the latter half but essentially this is all about the warm and inviting groove. Remixing first is Paris man Joss Moog, who has released on Robsoul and has a very uniquely musical approach to everything he does. Here he reworks the track into a bit of authentic old school disco with knotted basslines, plenty of vibrant and jangling percussion and warm chords. Its a great rework and he also provides an exclusive digital only remix that is even more unhinged, funky and freewheeling. Next up is young UK house talent James Dexter, who has appeared on plenty of great labels in this, his breakout year, and shows why he is so rated with this remix. Its a stripped back and dubbed out, firmly rooted bit of house music for the heads with tough beats are and lush chords. Closing out the package is Gourmand Music boss and Chicago House purist, JR From Dallas. His Ghetto mix is suitably quick licked, dirty and sleazy, with plenty of abrasive percussive loops rattling along next to busy drums and various vocal sounds. For house heads there can be few better labels than this, and Pistons latest offering might just be its best yet.

Seamless Recordings brings you the new release from Angel Johnson. Angel began her DJ career way back in 1991, a veteran of her trade and a pioneer in helping to break the stereotype of what was once considered a uniquely male vocation. It’s hard to list all the achievements of someone with more than twenty years in the business but playing legendary clubs like Venus, the Hacienda, Ministry of Sound, The Cross etc…, whilst also travelling to the worlds’ best underground clubs in many far flung places – rank highly in Angel’s repertoire. As well as being a respected old skool DJ, Angel has a bucket load of releases under her belt. She has produced music under Angelheart and DJ Angel for labels like Hi Life, Vendetta, Groovebox, Milk & Sugar and Diamondhouse Records and also more predominantly writes and produces music under her down-tempo artist moniker Venus In Motion, releasing her album “Somebodys Heaven”, last summer on Seamless. Her latest release, Lovers Heaven features the vocal talents of Tammy Cartwright, and it’s a feel good track with a large dosage of funk mixed with live bass and big vocals that bottle that ever so popular 90’s flavour. The Lost Cherub Mix stays with the big vocals yet delivers a much deeper, moodier vibe, while Denmarks Jacob Bech, who has now had a several big releases on labels such as Large Music and Neurotraxx Recordings, strips things down, uses his trademark low bassline, warm chord stabs and classy arrangement to create a killer deep and cool remix that sounds outstanding on a big system to finish off this great package.
