Japan’s Toru Koda, otherwise known as Quarta330, has been a member of London’s Hyperdub since 2007 – that’s a decade ago – and, while he’s only put out a handful of EPs since then, Hyperdub has always been his home of sorts. It’s clear why that is, though, as few artists manage to blend so much instrumentation together, and then wrapping it up in delightful low frequencies. Speaking of frequencies, “Resonate 3” sounds like the sort of digitized jazz fusion they be making on Mars, while “The Fairies Homecoming” is a gorgeous, trippy future-jungle stepper with a leftfield twist. “Yatagarasu” is a little slice of sonic warfare, darting in and out of different genres on a constant basis, leaving “Digital Lotus Flower” to dissipate its fluttering folds of jungle mutations like a machinegun.
