Mindspring Music is clearly on the ball when it comes to finding new sounds from new talent. In fact, there is little else that they’ve done over the years, and this has put them in a very advantageous position when it comes to us reviewing their wild and diverse selection of post-balearic, post-bass sounds. Infrequency debuts with a full LP, Elements Of Nature, and it’s a 13-track voyage through the darkest, most treacherous corners of the jungle. Believe it or not, there is a bit of every electronic genre in here, from the rattling breakbeat of “Dreams” to the trapped-out hypnotism of “Drip”, but the whole album is woven together with a glitchy, downtempo aesthetic that is primarily charged by the UK’s dubstep tradition. In this way, Elements Of Nature makes for some truly contemporary listening that will undoubtedly tap into this generation’s fascination with the future, post-apocalyptic dystopia, and the mysteries of the Universe.
