THROUGH THE DREAD WASTE the second album from electronic collective Capac comprises ten interpretations of the coldest traditional winter music in the form of dark drone and atmospheric ambience. The record follows Capacs 2015 debut album Sea Freeze which was released through independent label This Is It Forever and described by Uncut as both minimal and monumental. This latest concept sees the collective delve deeper into the murky depths as they explore the passing of old winter tales across generations. Capac subvert the convention of remembering and recording traditional music utilising technological advances available in the digital age. Each piece was constructed with minimal instrumentation in Athens Greece and subsequently deconstructed in Bristol UK using a myriad of digital processing techniques embodying the tradition of passing on and reinterpreting folk stories.
