It’s always exciting to see Murder He Wrote make a return, this time joining the Athletic Rhythm crew for a sumptuous display of dizzying sonic delight across four vibrant originals. Firstly, the softened vocal textures and steadily progressing drumlines of ‘Perfect Lie’ give us a syncopated shuffle of an intro, before ‘Starting Over’ then amps everything up further with charming piano keys and steadily shifting bass tones below. From here, MHR’s UK funky roots are on full display as ‘Connection’ gives us a sultry swoop through old school sounds and charming bass pulses, before ‘Sunrise Dub’ pumps up the volume even further
