Los Angeles native Mikey V takes a break from usual studio partner Eddie B to release this monster EP on Luke Solomon and Derrick L. Carter’s Classic Music Company. “Illusions” is the kind of tunnelling dark house that’s reminiscent of classic Felix Da Housecat vibes on Nervous. NYC deep house legend Eric Kupper is back on the scene after a long hiatus with a bit of help from Kenny Summit making the track a much deeper journey reminiscent of Sydenham & Ferrer’s old stuff; not at all a bad thing. Finally London’s Bas Ibellini fresh off a release on Tuskegee gives the track a sweet minimal makeover that’s druggy and rolling and perfect for the afterhour’s scene.
