On that note, the 5 or rather 136 stories from Tim Vitá and Oliver Gehrmanns debut EP on the Freude am Tanzen sister label FAT-zig aren’t telling any new house music stories – but rather through the multifaceted kaleidoscope two young producers are on some of the freshest as well as unabashed ways and means in a long time.”Nothing new eve happens. There are always only the same old stories that are lived by new people over and over”, supposedly said by the American writer William Faulkner. On that note, the 5 or rather 136 stories from Tim Vitá and Oliver Gehrmanns debut EP on the Freude am Tanzen sister label FAT-zig aren’t telling any new house music stories – but rather through the multifaceted kaleidoscope two young producers are on some of the freshest as well as unabashed ways and means in a long time. These are stories that remind one of the roots of house that sit deep in house and soul. In disco steps prepared on the way from a song to a track remind one of the disco ball over the dance floor in Studio 54, Paradise Garage or Warehouse; it glimmers brightly in the club. Without falling into the retro-trap Vitá and Gehrmann research a new era and bestow the new old mother house with honor together with a contemporary finishing touch. Vitá and Gehrmann are not satisfied with a minimal beat, a few chunky percussions and unadorned chords; these elements are found on far too many packages and are unfortunately released as house. The two young fellas want more, more from everything: vocals, sampling madness, zig-zagging in strange areas, complex rhythms. The great feelings as well as the magic of the night and early morning hours. And again and again euphoria! This music is way ahead of its time and is waiting on a number of suspense-filled stories. Namely, those from Tim Vitá and Oliver Gehrmann. No Fool An irresistible elastic house beat is peeled layer by layer from the filters and gets ready for the smooth chords, funky shaker and a longing crooner. We enthusiastically approve: Sometimes we feel like … YEAH! The Fourth Cake Back one notch “The Fourth Cake” takes the exit to the right of the dance floor, and goes with his subtle sweet song directly into the heart. A history-conscious track without too long a look into the rear view that plays the deep-house keys to perfection. Claps N Snaps With “Claps and Snaps” Vitá and Gehrmann greet the funk heroes, rolls out the red carpet and shows you what they have learned. In a cool greatness the track meets almost scarily the golden intersection between parliament-reminiscence, disco-edit and pure house-groove. Hold Me Tight “Hold Me Tight” sounds out the spectrum of house in a new way. Here there is a carefully cobbled together mix of song and track, emotion and departure, and not least a shot of sexiness. Then there is the staggering piano! After falling to my knees, I’m hot footing it in the direction of the dance floor. I’ve Got A New World As the conclusion to a undoubtedly nice and round EP Vita and Gehrmann pull perhaps the strongest ace from the sleeve. “I’ve Got a New World” is the hymn that in the morning at nine can bring a dance floor to a thrill, and thanks to the butter sweet vocals and the delightfully furnished piano drives the remaining energies from the legs and torso.
