Following his self-titled debut album on his own BW imprint in 2014, Chicago’s Beau Wanzer returns with more electro-wave in the form of the self-released Untitled EP. ‘Beefhearts’ opens programmatically with heavily overdriven kicks, dispersing notions of distorted spoken word vocals, while the wonky pattern of ‘Drew Is A Dog Eater’ steers forward with dangerous determination. By the time the EP gets to ‘Seedless Grins’, it’s regained control over its course, plucking along steadily: the beast of ‘Beefhearts’ has been captured and put in a cage, groaning from below deck, whereto we only dare an excursion on ‘Beaches Of Leeches’, which unravels.
