We have released two EPs with Sascha Sonido on Trapez ltd so far. His new tracks are more old school and rhythm based. Starting with “Keep Going” a dead cool jack tune in a true sense, hypnotic and repetitive never doing anything superfluous, every element contributes to the rhythm in a fine way. The Zohki & Roozlee remix turns out to have much more in common with a sick and crazy piece of techno. Everything is in motion and full of life… making it an irresistible groover for the club. Great! “Its Like That” starts with a field recording of daily life before it plunges into a heavy jack affair of old school percussion work that mother-f..ker Sascha Sonido at his best… writing clonk melodies that makes the old sweet dream of dancing till the sun comes up true. Tribal music for people who gather to dance through the night together. Speaking about tribal beats, “Nazca” is even stronger on the side of native sounds and juggling percussion. Give the lord a handclap and wiggle!

The same week as Answer Code Request’s new 12″ on Ostgut Ton gets a release, the regular Berghain DJ turns up on XDB’s new one for Dolly, of course run by Panorama Bar regular Steffi. ACR owns the A1 with a remix to the EP’s title track, with the German seemingly plucking out his favourite loop-section of the original and pumping it full of a solid sounding techno low-end like only the Germans know how. XDB’s version is long-winding, groovy and noticeably lighter in comparison, while on the B-side Detroit techno and Chicago house influences are abound, most notably in “Tonik”, while “Liberty” is a stomping and very funky house classic

The Empire strikes flashback!

The new Electro Empire label kicks off with a long overdue digitally remastered re-release of this EP including the four winners of the 2003 www.ElectroEmpire.com theme song producers’ competition.

While the songs by Gab.Gato from Italy (The Villains Inc., Dominance Electricity), Finland’s Laite (X0X Records) and Split DJ out of Spain (Microciudad Recordings, Beathazard) represent the New School Electro sound of 2003, DJ Wildthing from Denmark takes it back to the roots, delivering a traditional mastermix packed with Electro classics from the 1980s.

As a special bonus this re-release also features four previously unreleased competition entries by the Finnish duo Polytron (Kostamus Records), England’s Paul Blackford (Militant Science, Twilight 76), The Metric Brothers aka Dr. Skunkenstein from the UK & DJ D.S.K. out of China (Second To None, Electrolab Records) and once again DJ Wildthing with the second part of his Electrofunk mastermix.
