One of last year’s breakthrough labels, Berceuse Heroique, returns with a sixth release and more compelling evidence that Dutch producer Ekman can be the sonic equivalent of GBH when the mood fits. Those out there lucky enough to scoop up Roel Dijcks inauguration of Berceuse Heroique will already be sending signals from their brains to the fingers that say “click buy”. “Acid 7” proves to be just as deadly as that release, jaggedly throwing the burning embers of a malfunctioning Roland unit into battle a crud infested bass drum before some hi hats come in to add to the frenzy. The label’s fine tradition of remix commissions continues with LIES artist Vereker homing in on the psychedelic DNA of Ekman’s production with the resultant production looser but no less deadly.

Let’s Get Lost show no signs of falling off as they reach their twenty fifth release in fine style, courtesy of NYC’s Jacques Renault. The On The Prowl boss comes correct and brings serious heat on this one, heavily repping the vintage house sounds he’s been exploring over the past couple of years.

The A-side cut is an emotional piano house excursion, featuring big swirling strings, crisp percussion and diva vocal samples. The strings and pads take it into the depths while the piano vamps and vocal screams hit the peak time highs.

On the flip, Jacques reworks another forgotten garage house blinder (circa 89) for modern club use. A seriously dubby bassline will keep the feet shuffling and the head nodding, while the relentless piano solo is a hypnotic joy to get lost in. Full steam ahead for the world’s most consistent edit label.
