Mutant electronica from Turin, Italy’s Daniele Mana aka Vaghe Stelle, backed with BAT’s murky remix refraction and a future-primitive Gand Of Ducks version. As with his excellent ‘Out Of Body’ EP for Danse Noir, Vaghe’s original tracks fall outside any pre-ordained genre, preferring to let his imagination run free in the dark from the off world R&B romance of ‘4th Hope’ to the pneumatic grime and lushly discordant trance sensations of ‘8th Hope’, and something like a radioactive mutation of Saharan cellphone anthem on ’10th Hope’, thru to the Ferraro-esque ’11th Hope’. The Best Available Technology remix of ‘4th Hope’ turns it into a Bellows-like piece of sampling chicanery, and Gang Of Ducks warp ‘8th Hope’ with a something like a lo-fi take on OPN’s para-dimensional, strobing post-techno scapes.

Chris Pell is having a busy year. In between illustrating label art and making the gulliest of bassline as DJ Sharda, he has seen his Murlo alias gather breakneck momentum thanks to his diverse array of leftfield grime-centred instrumentals. Murlo keeps the vibe varied, infusing his tracks with elements from soca, funky and R&B to create a unique sound that has received support from some of the games heaviest selectors including Blackdown, Oneman, Brackles and Slackk.

Most excitingly, Murlo has linked up with Glacial Sound to deliver their imminent second record on November 25th, the much anticipated ‘Last Dance’ EP. You may have seen Chris’s own Last Dance video doing the rounds, a backdrop of regal opulence to suit the quirkiness of the track; sparse handclap percussion and punchy kicks beneath ornate snyth trills and broad violin strokes, like some kind of sleek dancefloor-aimed grime banger from the Baroque era.

If you have caught Oneman lately, you will have heard him battering the living daylights out of ‘Robes’, using its buoyant carnival rhythms to deadly effect. ‘Velvet Wall’ is built in a similar vein, with Murlo flipping the eski sound and packing it with snappy rhythms and gliding melodies to form a heavy orchestral-edged cut. To round off the EP, Glacial Sound have enlisted Slackk to twist Velvet Wall into a woozy, sino-grime flavoured beat with a similar aesthetic to some of his recent Minor Triads material, and Robes receives a rough, bassline lead 4×4 treatment from Manchester’s excellent Swing Ting outfit.

Amaterasu is a goddess in Japanese mythology. She is the Sun Goddess, and the most sacred of all Shinto deities. Her name, Amaterasu, means “(that which) illuminates Heaven.” Her shrine is at Ise. The tales tell of great rivalry between Amaterasu and Susano’o. When he was to leave Heaven forever because Izanagi ordered him to, he went to say goodbye to his sister. Amaterasu, suspicious, proposed him a challenge: each of them was to turn an object of the other’s into people. Amaterasu created three women from Susano’o’s sword while he created five men from her necklace. Amaterasu said the men were hers because they were born of her necklace. Susano’o destroyed her rice fields, threw a dead pony into her loom, and killed one of her assistants in anger. For this, Amaterasu, sad, angry and scared, went to hide inside Ama-no-Iwato, the “heavenly rock cave”, so the Sun was hidden and the world became dark for along time. The Oni (devils of Japanese mythology) came out to the dark world, and the gods could not make Amaterasu come out of the cave. The intelligent goddess of happiness, Ama-no-Uzume , took a small boat, turned it upside down near the cave entrance, and began a dance on it, tearing off her clothing in front of the other Kami. They thought this was so funny that they laughed happily. Amaterasu heard them, and looked out to see why the gods were laughing. When she opened the cave, she saw her wonderful reflection in a mirror Uzume had put on a tree, and slowly came out of the cave. At that moment, the god Ameno-Tajikarawo closed the cave behind her, so she could not go back in. Another god tied a magic rope across the entrance. The sun goddess was then asked by the Kami Ame-no-Koyane to go back with the gods. She agreed, and light came back to the earth, but Susano’o was punished by being banished from Heaven. for the fourth ep of amaterasu we are proud to present the new project by delko : RELAPSO , the ep incl. Die Distillery ist der älteste der bestehenden Clubs in Ostdeutschland und bietet elektronischer Musik seit 20 Jahren ein Zuhause. Nahezu alle nationalen und internationalen DJ-Größen waren hier schon zu Gast, der Club ist weit über die Stadtgrenzen hinaus bekannt und eine der wichtigsten Institutionen für Musikund Lebenskultur in Leipzig. Erst in diesem Jahr wurde die Distillery von Lesern des Musikmagazins De:Bug unter die Top Ten der besten deutschen Clubs gewählt. Trotz seines Erfolges ist es hinter den Kulissen familiär geblieben. Eine große Clubfamilie hält die Distillery mit Herzblut und Kreativität am Leben. Doch die Zukunft des Clubs ist unsicher. Die Stadt Leipzig plant gemeinsam mit der Deutschen Bahn das Gelände, auf dem der Club steht zu bebauen. Der Siegerentwurf eines Berliner Architekturbüros zeigt Wohn- und Geschäftshäuser, die Distillery ist nicht mehr zu finden.
Der Film „Willkommen zu Hause“ taucht ein in den Mikrokosmos der Leipziger Club-Legende und verleiht Veranstaltern, DJs und Partygästen in exklusiven Interviews eine Stimme. Durch ihre Erinnerungen und Bekenntnisse sowie bisher unveröffentlichte Video- und Fotoaufnahmen werden 20 bewegte Partyjahre wieder lebendig. Der Einblick hinter die Kulissen zeigt ein liebevolles, rührendes und auch eigensinniges Bild der Szene. Er zeigt vor allem aber eines: Die Distillery ist mehr als nur eine Partylocation – sie ist ein Wohnzimmer mitFamilienanschluss, ein Schutzraum für musikalische Experimente, eine Parallelwelt mit bezaubernden Nächten.
