For their debut release, Vibe Material has turned to two experienced producers: sometime Sidetrak and Midnight Social man Luke Gibson, and Moon Harbour regular Ekkohaus. The latter kicks things off with the bumping, retro-futurist goodness of “Curiosity”, where whistling electronics and metallic riffs ride a rolling, bassline-driven groove. The “old school” vibe is further explored on “What Do You Do If I Don’t”, where hip-house era yelps wrap themselves around a low slung, bass heavy groove. Gibson takes a subtly different approach on the bouncy, stab-heavy, warehouse friendly fun of “B”, before working the percussion hard on the late night trip that is closer “Nothing Nice”.
