There is a decidedly exploratory quality to the latest release on All Inn Black, drawing a selection of different artists together with a shared flair for pushing minimal production into worthwhile spaces that do away with dancefloor tedium in search of something more transcendental. After the haunting intro experiment, Rayo & Eric lean down on the A side with the floatation tank atmosphere of “Ranok”, which moves with purposeful beats without allowing the drums to punch through the heavy smoke that hovers over the track. Yate has a more measured and steady approach but the devilish details are still present in its subliminal rhythms. Ja.Sha takes a slow and housey approach to strictly slender grooves, using a very subtle background tone to set an uneasy mood behind the clean hits of percussion that shape out the track.
